It's for yesterday! ... In 2012, at Rio+20, giant fish made of plastic waste, like the one in the photo, then installed on Botafogo beach, were used in the "Recycle Your Attitudes" project. There, art was already being used to awaken the common citizen's interest in the need to recycle plastic waste. Today, 10 years later, we need reinforcement in this and other campaigns for the same purpose, as the future forecast is frightening. Given the low adherence to global initiatives to curb marine pollution, it is estimated that the amount of non-recycled plastic flowing into the oceans will almost triple by 2040. Reusing, recycling, and choosing packaging other than single-use plastic are actions for now. Among many other manifestations, art continues to inspire us in its reflections and, especially, in visualizing the amount of what we discard. We hope that 2023 brings a new attitude of conscious consumption. Here are some tips, along with podcasts featuring experts and the work of artists, to motivate you to take action in the coming year.
